Getting started

Find and organize your documents

3 min readLast checked:

In short

Your Slaide library lists your documents. Search by title to find documents across folders, mark favorites to place them first, and use folders to group work. The library root shows documents outside folders. Deleting a folder moves its documents back to the root; deleting a document removes that document.

Where is my document?

Open the library with the same account you used to create the document. The Continue card helps you return to recent work. Your other documents appear in the document grid or inside a folder.

  1. Step 1: Search by title

Type part of the document title in Search. The search checks titles across folders. It does not search the text inside document pages.

The toolbar above the document list in the library: the button “Open PowerPoint, PDF or Word”, the New folder button and the search field.
  2. Step 2: Check your folders

Clear the search and open a folder. The library root shows documents that are outside folders, so it is not an all-folders view.

A folder and the first document card in the library: on the card the star for favorites at the top left and the three-dot actions button at the top right.
  3. Step 3: Check shared documents and your account

Invited documents carry Shared with you. If nothing matches, check the signed-in account before assuming that a document has been deleted.

How do folders and favorites work?

Choose New folder, enter a name and confirm it. Use the document card's action menu to move a document to a folder. Folder names and document titles can be changed later; renaming does not rewrite the document's pages.

  • Mark a document as a favorite using its star. Favorites appear first within the current view; they are not a separate document copy.
  • Open a folder to see its documents. Search by title when you need to find work without remembering its folder.
  • Remove a favorite with the same control. This changes its ordering, not its contents or permissions.

Should I rename, duplicate or use a template?

ActionUse it when
RenameYou want a clearer library title for the same document.
DuplicateYou want a separate copy to adapt without changing the original.
Use as templateYou want to start a new document in the design of this one. The copy keeps pages and format but not chat, versions, attachments or sources.

Choose a title that includes the subject and period, such as Sales review Q3 2026. A duplicate is useful before a major adaptation; version history is useful when returning to an earlier state of the same document. For reusable design assets, see Use your own template.

What happens when I delete a folder or document?

Deleting a folder removes the grouping and puts its documents back in the library root. It does not delete those documents. The document's Delete action is different: it asks for confirmation before deleting that document.

A document shared with you has a restricted card rather than the owner's full menu. Permission to edit pages does not make you the owner. See Work together for the actions each role can perform.

Frequently asked questions

Does search also look inside my pages?

The library search matches document titles across folders. It does not perform a full-text search inside the pages. Search for a distinctive part of the title.

Will deleting a folder delete its documents?

No. Deleting the folder removes the grouping and moves its documents back to the library root. Deleting an individual document is a separate action.

Is there a limit on how many documents I can have?

Yes. An account can hold up to 500 documents, whatever the plan. At the limit, Slaide names the maximum and asks you to delete a few you no longer need before you create, copy or duplicate another one.

Why are some document menus missing?

Documents shared with you have restricted owner actions. You can edit within the granted permissions, while deleting, folder assignment and favorites belong to the owner.
