Animations and transitions for your slides
In short
Click Animate in the Slaide editor header and pick Keynote, Balanced or Minimalist: the assistant then adds entrances, slide transitions and morphs across the whole deck. They play when you present and travel into the PowerPoint export; blur, color changes and exit animations stay in Slaide. Animating is an assistant request that uses credits, except on the Free plan for the document that was free.
How do I animate my presentation?
Click Animate in the editor header and choose a style: the assistant then adds entrances, slide transitions and morphs across the whole deck.
Step 1: Finish your slides
Animate needs a slide format (Slides 16:9, 4:3 or HD) with at least two pages. It looks at every slide, so finish text and layout first.
Step 2: Click Animate
Click Animate (wand icon) in the editor header. The button is shown on screens wider than a phone and is disabled while the assistant is working on the document.
Step 3: Choose a style
Pick Keynote, Balanced or Minimalist from Choose an animation style. The run starts at once, and your choice is remembered in this browser.
Step 4: Watch it play
The assistant panel shows Choreographing animations .... When the run is done, Slaide says Animations ready, playing your deck. and starts the presentation.
| Style | What it does |
|---|---|
| Keynote | Maximum choreography with crafted morphs and entrances |
| Balanced (default) | Clear, lively motion with a measured rhythm |
| Minimalist | Clean, restrained fades, wipes and simple slides |
What kinds of motion does the assistant add?
The assistant studies every slide and writes its own motion for your deck instead of picking from a fixed menu. In this run it can read pages and write motion; rewriting text, images or layout is not part of it.
- Entrances: elements fade, slide, grow, zoom, flip, reveal or draw themselves in, one after another. The first step plays by itself when the slide starts, later steps wait for your click.
- Text by piece: a heading or paragraph can enter word by word, character by character or line by line.
- Slide transitions: fade, slide, push, zoom, wipe, rise, iris or flip between two slides, or a deliberate hard cut.
- Morph: an object that appears on two following slides glides from its old position and size to the new one.
- Exits: elements can leave while the next slide arrives. These play only in Slaide.
Where can I see the animations?
You see them when you present and in the exported PowerPoint file. The editor view, PDF, PNG and JPG show the slides without motion.
- In Slaide: click Present. After an Animate run Slaide opens the presentation for you.
- Public link: viewers who click Present on your shared link see the same motion.
- PowerPoint: the export writes PowerPoint animations and transitions, see the next section.
Do animations carry into the PowerPoint export?
Most of them do. Since 10 October 2026 Slaide measures how the browser plays each entrance and writes matching PowerPoint animations and transitions with the same easing, delays and staggers, so export again to get them. Play the file in Slide Show mode in PowerPoint to check it.
| In Slaide | In PowerPoint |
|---|---|
| Movement, scale, rotation, fading and reveals | Matching entrance effects with the same easing, delay and stagger |
| Click steps | One click per step, in the same order |
| Text by word, character or line | The same piece-by-piece entrance |
| A line or ring that draws itself | A wipe for the line, the wheel effect for the ring |
| Morph between slides | PowerPoint Morph; a PowerPoint version without Morph shows a fade |
| Other slide transitions | The nearest one: wipe, circle, push, cover, uncover or fade (the names can differ by PowerPoint version) |
| Blur, color, filter, shadow and layout size changes | Not carried, they play only in Slaide |
| Elements leaving a slide | Not carried, they play only in Slaide |
How do I change or remove the animations?
There is no panel for single animations: the assistant choreographs the whole deck, and you change the result by running Animate again or by going back.
- Try another style: run Animate again and pick another style. Slaide tells the assistant to replace the existing motion on every slide, so the new take stands alone.
- Go back: before every run Slaide saves the previous state as a version. Restore it from the Versions tab, see Edit your document and undo changes.
- After larger edits: run Animate again once the slides have changed, so the motion fits the new content.
Does animating use credits?
Yes. Animate is one request to the assistant for the whole deck and uses credits like other requests, charged by actual use; How credits work in Slaide shows how they work.
| Your situation | Animate |
|---|---|
| Free plan, the document that was free for you | No credits: later changes to that document are included |
| Free plan, any other document | Needs credits, for example from an invitation, a promo code or a plan |
| Plus, Pro or Max | Uses credits from your plan |
| A document unlocked with a single purchase (students and pupils) | Needs credits: the purchase covers building the document, not later changes |
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Animate button?
Animate appears for slide formats (Slides 16:9, 4:3 and HD) with at least two pages, on screens wider than a phone. It is disabled while the assistant works on the document and hidden while you edit a page directly.
Can I animate a single slide or element?
Not by hand. Slaide has no animation panel; Animate choreographs the whole deck in one run. To change the result, run Animate again with another style or restore an earlier version from the Versions tab.
Does Animate change my text or design?
No. The Animate run can read your pages and write motion; rewriting text, images or layout is not part of it. If you want content changes, ask for them in the chat as usual.
Do the animations of my imported PowerPoint file survive?
Slaide does not read them. On paid plans, slides you did not change keep their original animations in the export, and a slide that Animate changes gets Slaide's motion instead. See Use your own PowerPoint template or design.
Will animations play for people who open my link?
Yes, when they click Present on your public link; the button appears for slide formats with more than one slide. The page itself shows static slides.
