The Slaide add-in for PowerPoint

5 min readLast checked:

In short

The Slaide add-in adds a chat pane to PowerPoint: you describe a deck, Slaide builds it with the same AI and credits as the web app, and you insert the slides into your presentation or open them as a new one. As of 11 October 2026 it is not in Microsoft Marketplace yet, and Slaide's settings list it as Coming soon. Until then, build in Slaide and export to PowerPoint.

Can I use Slaide inside PowerPoint today?

Not as an add-in yet. As of 11 October 2026 it is not available in Microsoft Marketplace, and Settings, Workspace, Integrations lists the PowerPoint add-in as Coming soon.

What does the add-in do?

It adds a Slaide chat pane to PowerPoint's Home tab: you describe a presentation, Slaide builds it with the same agent, models and credits as the web app, and the slides arrive in PowerPoint.

  • Build a deck: describe topic, audience and length. With the Plan switch on, which is the default, Slaide asks a few quick questions and shows a plan before it builds.
  • Use your open deck as context: the Open presentation chip sends the text of your open slides along with your request. Remove it with the x to leave it out.
  • Rework a deck: ask for a change such as “Adapt this deck for a new client”. Slaide changes texts, images and chart data and keeps design and layout.
  • Dictate: the Dictate button turns speech into your message.

How do I build slides with it?

Open the pane, log in with your Slaide account, describe the deck and insert the result.

  1. Step 1: Open the pane

In PowerPoint, go to the Home tab and click Slaide.

  2. Step 2: Log in

Click Log in and sign in with your Slaide account in the window that opens. There is no separate add-in account; Sign up opens slaide.de in your browser.

  3. Step 3: Describe the deck

Write what you would tell a colleague: topic, audience, language and roughly how many slides. Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line. With Plan on, answer the quick questions or skip them, then click Build it or Change something.

  4. Step 4: Insert the result

When the slides are ready, click Insert into this presentation: they land after the selected slide. Or click Open as new presentation. Nothing enters your presentation before you click.

How do I adapt a presentation I already have?

Keep the Open presentation chip attached and write what should change; Slaide works out from your request that you want a rework, not a new deck.

  • Slaide changes text, images and chart data on the slides you ask for. The slides, their layouts and the design stay. Name a range, such as the first three slides, to limit it.
  • It takes a few minutes. Your file and slide previews are sent to Slaide for the run and deleted afterwards.
  • When the rework is done, click Open as new presentation to keep your original untouched, or Insert into this presentation. PowerPoint for the web offers only the insert button.
  • If nothing needed to change, nothing is charged.

What does it cost, and what leaves PowerPoint?

The add-in uses your Slaide account, plan and credits, so a run draws from the same balance as in the web app; How credits work in Slaide explains them.

  • Cost: the pane shows your balance and what a run used. A run that fails before doing any work costs nothing. You need credits to start: with a balance of zero and pay-as-you-go off, the pane says This run needs credits and offers Choose a plan. The free first document of the Free plan is a feature of the web app, not of the add-in.
  • What is sent: your message, dictation audio if you use it, and the text of your open presentation only while the Open presentation chip is attached. A rework also sends the file and slide previews. To build, your request and the content it needs go through OpenRouter to language-model providers in the USA; their use for training is contractually excluded, and access by US authorities cannot be ruled out entirely. See Security and the privacy policy (as of October 2026).
  • Where the slides live: a deck you build is also in your Slaide library, and Open in Slaide edits it there. A rework creates no Slaide document.

Which PowerPoint versions work, and what are the limits?

The add-in is built for PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and the web. The pane checks at runtime what your PowerPoint can do and hides buttons it cannot support; the table shows what each platform is designed to offer.
