Add, replace and crop images and logos

In short

In Slaide you add images while editing a page: click Media in the header and pick a stock photo, a company logo or an upload, drop a file on the page, or paste one. Select an image to replace, crop or delete it. Files can be PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP up to 30 MB. You can also ask the AI in the chat to place images.

How do I add an image to a page?

Start editing the page (right-click it and choose Edit directly if it is empty), then use one of these ways. A new image is 300 pixels wide with rounded corners and appears in the middle of the visible page, or where you drop it.

What do the Photos, Logo and Upload tabs do?

The “Insert image” window after clicking Media: the tabs Photos, Logo and Upload at the top, below them a search box for royalty-free images with six suggestions (Abstract, Gradient, Business, Nature, Tech, Texture) and the hint to enter a term.
  1. Photos searches royalty-free images from Pexels.
  2. Logo finds a company logo by name or domain.
  3. Upload takes one image file from your computer.
  • Photos searches royalty-free images from Pexels. Search a term or click a suggestion such as Nature or Tech, hover a photo to see the photographer, and click it to insert.
  • Logo finds company logos. Type a company or a domain such as apple.com, pick the brand, then pick a variant. The dialog reminds you to use logos only with the necessary brand rights.
  • Upload takes one image file: PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP.

Which formats and sizes work?

The Upload tab in the “Insert image” window: a dashed field “Choose an image” with the note on the allowed formats PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP.
  1. Click Media in the header, then open the Upload tab.
  2. Click Choose an image and pick one file: PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 30 MB.

How do I replace, crop or remove an image?

  1. Step 1: Select the image

Click it while editing. The toolbar shows Replace, Crop, Filter, Flip and Corner rounding.

  2. Step 2: Replace it

Press Replace to open the dialog, or drop a new file onto the image. Frame, position and crop stay as they are.

  3. Step 3: Crop it

Press Crop or double-click the image. Drag the picture to move the visible part, drag the handles to crop, and use Rotate for a crooked picture. Press Done to keep the crop or Cancel to drop it.

  4. Step 4: Remove it

Press Delete or Backspace, or the trash button in the toolbar. Ctrl+Z brings the image back.

Why is my image cropped?

Images fill their frame. When the picture and the frame have different proportions, Slaide cuts off the overflow instead of squeezing the picture.

  • Press Crop and drag the picture to show the part you want.
  • Drag a corner handle to resize in proportion. A side handle changes the shape of the frame and crops more or less.
  • If the hint says Image fills the frame, shrink the frame to crop, the picture has no spare area to move. Make the frame smaller or choose another picture.

What images does the AI place by itself?

  • Stock photos from Pexels that fit the topic.
  • Company logos from Brandfetch, when you name the company.
  • Maps from Wikimedia Commons, for places and borders.
  • Your own files: attached images and pages of attached PDFs.
  • The logo of your active brand, if it has one. See Brand kit.

On page 2, add a photo of a modern office on the right half. Keep the headline readable.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an image from a web address?

Not by link. When a page is saved, Slaide removes images that do not come from Pexels, Brandfetch, Wikimedia Commons or your own uploads. Download the image and upload it, or drop the file on the page.

Can I upload an SVG logo?

Not into a document. Document uploads take PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP, and an SVG is refused. Export the logo as PNG, or save it in your brand kit, which also accepts SVG. See Brand kit.

May I use any logo from the Logo tab?

Only with the necessary brand rights, as the dialog reminds you. Slaide finds the logos through Brandfetch, but the rights stay with the brand.

Does adding an image cost credits?

No. Adding, replacing, cropping and removing images by hand uses no credits. When you ask the AI to place images, that is an AI change and uses credits like any other.

Why does an image show as broken?

The page loads each picture from an attachment of the document. If that attachment was removed, for example with the cross on its chip in the message box, the picture can no longer load. Insert the image again. If it still fails, see Upload problems.
