> Click Present in the Slaide editor header to start a presentation that fills the window, at the slide you are on. Space or the right arrow moves on, N shows your speaker notes and Esc ends it. You write notes in the strip under each slide or ask the assistant. They never appear on the slide, travel into the PowerPoint export and are removed from public links.

## How do I present my deck?

Click **Present** in the editor header: Slaide opens a presentation that fills the window and starts at the slide you are looking at. Presenting only shows your pages and never changes the document.

*The editor of a finished deck: Present, Share and Export are in the header.*

1. **Pick the starting slide**. Scroll to the slide you want to begin with. The presentation starts there, not always at slide 1.
2. **Click Present**. Click **Present** in the header (tooltip **Present (fullscreen)**). The button needs at least one page and is shown on screens wider than a phone. While you edit a page directly, press **Done** first.

3. **Go full screen**. Click the fullscreen button at the top right to fill the screen. The first **Esc** leaves full screen, the second ends the presentation.
![The presentation view: the title slide fills the screen; the buttons Notes, Fullscreen and Exit are at the top right.](https://help.slaide.de/images/help/present-start-en.webp)
4. **Move through the slides**. Press Space or the right arrow, or click. Animations and transitions in your document play step by step; see [Animations and transitions for your slides](https://help.slaide.de/animations-and-transitions). More keys: [Keyboard shortcuts in Slaide](https://help.slaide.de/keyboard-shortcuts).

> **Note:** On a phone the editor header has no **Present** button. Open the public link of the document on the phone and tap **Present** there; the last section shows how.

## Which keys and gestures work while presenting?

Keys, clicks and swipes all move through the slides, and the buttons at the screen edge fade out after about two and a half seconds without movement.

| Action | Computer | Phone (screen narrower than 768 px) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Next step or slide | Space, right arrow, Page Down, Enter or a click | Tap or swipe left |
| Back | Left arrow, Page Up or Backspace | Swipe right |
| Speaker notes | N or the notes button | Not available |
| Full screen | The fullscreen button at the top right | Not available |
| Exit | Esc or the X button | The X button or the back gesture |

After the last slide a closing screen follows: the line Made with Slaide on the Free plan, the document title on paid plans. One more step closes the presentation.

## How do I add speaker notes?

Write them in the **Speaker notes** strip under a slide, or ask the assistant to write them. A note is plain text for what you say, it never appears on the slide, and it saves on its own.

![The opened speaker notes below a slide: a text field with the note and the hint that it never appears on the slide and goes into the PowerPoint file as a real notes field.](https://help.slaide.de/images/help/notes-open-en.webp)

1. **Open the strip**. Under each slide in the editor, click **Speaker notes**. The strip is shown on screens wider than a phone.
2. **Type your text**. Write what you say on this slide. Slaide saves after a short pause and when you leave the field.
3. **Or ask the assistant**. Say which slides you want notes for, for example with the request below. Slaide tells the assistant to write notes only on request and to leave existing notes alone unless you ask for a change.

**Example request:**

> Write speaker notes for every slide: about 40 seconds of spoken text per slide, in a calm, conversational tone, without bullet points.

> **Limit:** A note holds up to 10,000 characters per slide and has no formatting. While the assistant or the direct editor works on a slide, its notes field is read-only.

## Where do I see my speaker notes?

You see them under the slide in the editor, in the presentation with the **N** key, and in the notes pane of the exported PowerPoint file.

- **Editor:** the strip under each slide. Closed, it shows the first line as a preview.
- **While presenting:** press **N** or click the notes button (**Notes (N)**). The notes of the current slide open as a bar at the bottom, headed **Speaker notes** with the slide number. The button appears when at least one slide has a note, and notes are not available on phones.
- **PowerPoint export:** each note is written into the notes pane of its slide. PDF, PNG, JPG and Word downloads do not contain notes.
- **Imported files:** notes in a PowerPoint file you open come along with their slides, see [Use your own PowerPoint template or design](https://help.slaide.de/use-your-own-powerpoint-template).

> **No separate presenter window:** The notes bar opens on the same screen as the slides. If an audience sees this screen, it sees the notes while the bar is open. Press **N** again to close it.

## How do I present through a share link?

Click **Share** in the editor header: the first click creates a public link to your document and copies it, and anyone with the link can view the pages and start **Present** without an account.

- **Options:** the arrow next to **Share** (**More sharing options**) opens the panel. On the **Link** tab, the **Public link** switch turns the link on or off, **Show in the Slaide gallery** is off by default and **Allow use as template** is on by default.
- **What viewers get:** the pages, read-only, and **Present** for slide formats with more than one slide. Your speaker notes are removed from every public view. On the Free plan, the page and the closing screen carry Made with Slaide.
- **Turning it off:** switch **Public link** off. The old link stops working for good, and sharing again creates a new address.
- **Working together:** to let colleagues edit, invite them by email on the **People** tab.

> **Note:** Your speaker notes stay with you: the public link, the embedded view, the gallery and a copy that a viewer makes with **Use as template, free** do not include them.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is there a presenter view with a second screen?

No. Slaide has no separate presenter window. The notes open as a bar at the bottom of the presentation screen, so anyone who sees that screen sees them. If you want to present from PowerPoint, export the deck: your notes travel into its notes pane.

### Can I present from my phone?

The editor header has no Present button on phones. Open the public link on the phone and tap Present there; it appears for slide formats with more than one slide. Tap or swipe to move on. Speaker notes are not available on phones.

### Does the assistant write speaker notes without being asked?

No. Slaide instructs the assistant to write notes only when you ask for them, for example add speaker notes or what should I say here, to keep existing notes unchanged unless you ask for a change, and never to put presenter text on the slide itself.

### Do people with my link see my speaker notes?

No. Notes are removed from every public view of a shared document: the link page, the embedded view and the gallery, and from a copy that a viewer makes with **Use as template, free**. Viewers see only the pages.

### Do animations play when I present?

Yes. Animations and transitions saved in your document play while you present: a click or the right arrow shows the next step, then the next slide. Going back jumps without a transition. In older browsers, slide changes fall back to a simple fade.
