> Slaide for Chrome is a side-panel extension for Google Chrome 116 or newer. Click Turn this page into slides to build an editable presentation from the page you are reading, or collect up to 8 pages first. It reads a page only when you add it, signs in with your Slaide session and builds in the panel. Your first presentation is free.

## What does the Slaide Chrome extension do?

It turns the web page you are reading into an editable Slaide presentation, from a side panel next to the page. You need Google Chrome 116 or newer on a desktop computer and a Slaide account.

- **One page:** click **Turn this page into slides** and Slaide builds a short deck from the page in front of you.
- **Several sources:** collect up to 8 pages or highlighted passages, check the plan, then build.
- **Result:** edit and present the deck in Slaide, or download it as a PowerPoint file.

## How do I install the extension and sign in?

Install it from the Chrome Web Store, open the panel from the toolbar and sign in through your normal Slaide session.

1. **Install it**. Open [Slaide in the Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ai-presentation-maker-web/piikkomhjkklkimkbmndfbckighpbppm) and click **Add to Chrome**.
2. **Open the panel**. Click the Slaide icon in the toolbar or press Alt+Shift+S.

3. **Sign in**. If you are signed in to Slaide in this Chrome profile, the panel is too. If not, click **Open Slaide sign-in** when it asks, sign in on the tab that opens, and the panel carries on by itself. It never asks for a password. New to Slaide? [Create an account and sign in to Slaide](https://help.slaide.de/sign-up-and-log-in) first.

## How do I turn the page I am reading into slides?

Open the panel on the page and click **Turn this page into slides**; Slaide then plans and builds the deck without asking you to approve the plan first.

1. **Click the button**. Slaide reads the page, plans the slides and starts building. The panel shows the phase, the slides so far and a running clock.

2. **Keep reading**. The build runs on Slaide's servers: switch tabs, or close the panel and reopen it later. **Stop** ends the build and keeps the slides that exist.

3. **Open or download the deck**. Click **Open in Slaide** to edit and present, or **PowerPoint** to download a .pptx file; [What stays editable in the PowerPoint export](https://help.slaide.de/powerpoint-export) explains that file.

## How do I build one presentation from several pages?

Add each page or highlighted passage to your research list, then click **Create presentation**; with your own sources Slaide shows you the plan before it builds.

1. **Add pages or passages**. Click **Add to research**, or right-click and choose **Add page to Slaide**. For only a passage, highlight it and click **Add highlighted text** or choose **Add selection to Slaide**. The list keeps up to 8 sources.

2. **Say what the deck is for**. Optional: under **What should the deck be?** write one line. The presentation is written in the language of that line.

3. **Check the plan, then build**. Click **Create presentation**. When the plan appears, click **Build the deck**, or click **Change**, describe what should differ and click **Rework the plan**. **Discard** deletes the document Slaide had started.

> **Tip:** While a deck builds you can already collect sources for the next one. **New research** clears the finished run.

## What does the extension read, and what does it store?

It reads a page only when you add it, never in the background: the main text, up to about 45,000 characters, plus the title, address and details such as author and date.

| Permission | Why the extension needs it |
| --- | --- |
| Websites (http and https) | So adding works on every tab without an extra click. The panel also shows the title and icon of the tab in front of it and whether text is highlighted. |
| Scripting | Reads the main text of the one page you add. |
| Side panel | Shows Slaide next to the page. |
| Storage | Keeps your sources and the current run on your computer. |
| Context menu | Adds the right-click entries for adding a page or a selection. |

- **On your computer:** added pages stay in the extension's storage, also after you create a presentation, until you remove them: with the x on a row, with **Clear**, with **New research** after a finished deck, or by deleting the extension's data.
- **To Slaide:** when you create a presentation, each source goes to Slaide with its text, title and address. Your request and the content it needs then go through OpenRouter to language-model providers in the USA; their use for training is contractually excluded, and access by US authorities cannot be ruled out entirely. See [Security](https://www.slaide.de/security) and the [privacy policy](https://www.slaide.de/privacy) (as of October 2026).
- **Usage events:** only rough ones, such as opening the extension or a technical error, without page text, URLs or titles. It does not ask for your browsing history.

> **Careful:** The extension reads a page as your browser shows it, including pages you are signed in to. Add only content you may share with Slaide.

## What does it cost?

The extension is free and uses your Slaide account, plan and credits like the web app.

| Your account | What you see in the panel |
| --- | --- |
| Free, first presentation | Slaide plans up to 12 slides and builds the first 3, for example **3 of 10 slides built**. **Unlock every slide** opens the document in Slaide, where the build continues after you choose a plan. |
| Free, later presentations | The panel says **That was your free deck** and offers a plan. |
| Plus, Pro or Max | Slaide builds every slide of the plan with your credits. **Build the remaining N slides** finishes a build that stopped early. |
| Pupil or student account | Slaide plans for free; building starts after a plan or a single purchase. |

> **Note:** Free exports carry a small Slaide mark; the panel says so under **PowerPoint**. See [Plans and pricing: Free, Plus, Pro and Max](https://help.slaide.de/plans-and-pricing) and [How credits work in Slaide](https://help.slaide.de/how-credits-work).

## What can I do when a page cannot be added or a run fails?

Read the message in the panel first; most of them say what to do.

| Message in the panel | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **This page can't be added** | Chrome keeps its own pages, the Web Store and local files off limits to every extension. Open a normal website. |
| **This page can't be read right now** | Reload the page and try again. Pages that block extensions cannot be added. |
| **There was no readable text on this page.** | The page has no text the extension can read, for example because it is mostly images. Highlight text and add it, or choose another page. |
| **Still nothing.** (shown after you sign in) | Sign in to Slaide in the same Chrome profile, allow cookies for app.slaide.de, then click **Open it again**. |
| **The run did not finish** | Click **Try again** to plan again on the same document, or **Open in Slaide** to see what was built. |

## Frequently asked questions

### Does it work with PDFs?

Not in Chrome's built-in PDF viewer, where Chrome blocks extensions. Upload the PDF in Slaide instead, see [Files and exports: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint](https://help.slaide.de/files-and-exports).

### Which browsers and languages does it support?

Google Chrome 116 or newer on a desktop computer. The panel follows Chrome's language, German or English. The presentation follows the first line of your brief; without a brief, a German panel builds a German deck and an English panel an English one.

### Where do I find the presentation afterwards?

In your Slaide library, like any document, with the pages you added attached as sources, see [Web research and sources for your documents](https://help.slaide.de/web-research-and-sources).

### Can I change the slides afterwards?

Yes. Edit the deck in Slaide, see [Edit your document and undo changes](https://help.slaide.de/editing-and-undo), or download the .pptx and work in PowerPoint.
